When I started my social work career, the jobs I had were described as fieldwork. I moved to Chicago after undergrad because I wanted to work in an inner city. Fieldwork is the best way to learn. The dictionary defines it as "practical work conducted by a researcher in the natural environment, rather than in a lab or office". After grad school and a couple of detours, I found myself once again learning in the field. Only this time the field was myself. As I took training after training, I learned about the impact of an overwhelming childhood on a system, my system, my field. Here, I will share my notes from this field. What I have learned, what I find interesting, what I have found helpful for myself and those with whom I work. Let's begin, again and again.
